Our Story

The Story of Supraba.

Our vision has always been closely connected to the phinisi, Indonesia's iconic handcrafted sailing vessel. The traditional art of phinisi boatbuilding in South Sulawesi is recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

To us, a phinisi is much more than a vessel. It represents generations of Indonesian maritime knowledge, craftsmanship, and tradition. Sailing aboard a phinisi through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Komodo National Park brings together two of Indonesia's greatest treasures: its living cultural heritage and its extraordinary natural beauty.

The name Supraba comes from the Sanskrit word Suprabhā, meaning beautiful light or radiant dawn. Like the first light rising over the seas of Eastern Indonesia, it represents our hope that every journey brings inspiration, discovery, and memories that continue to shine long after our guests return home.

Supraba is a family-owned business, and we remain personally involved in every part of the experience we create.

From the Owners

Ida & Ugo.

For us, Ida and Ugo, our journeys through Komodo National Park, Raja Ampat, and the Banda Sea became much more than simple holidays. They introduced us to remote islands, extraordinary marine life, welcoming communities, and a way of travelling that felt truly connected to nature and local culture.

These experiences inspired us to create a way for others to discover Indonesia with the same sense of wonder. We wanted to offer journeys that allow guests to travel in comfort, experience authentic places, and take the time to build a meaningful connection with the destinations they visit.

We believe that the most meaningful journeys are shaped not only by the places you discover, but also by the people you meet, the moments you experience, and the stories you bring home.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard Supraba, and sharing the beauty, culture, and spirit of Indonesia with you through a truly unforgettable voyage.

How We Welcome People

Hospitality That Comes Naturally.

Life aboard Supraba is warm, attentive, and unforced. Meals are enjoyed together around one table, each day is shaped around the interests of the guests, and thoughtful details are handled quietly without unnecessary formality.

Divers and non-divers share every voyage, with experiences planned so that everyone feels equally included. Some days may begin early for a remarkable dive site, while others unfold slowly at anchor.

Whatever the rhythm of the journey, the intention remains simple: every guest should feel genuinely welcomed, comfortable, and cared for.
